A perfect movie with perfect music! - E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial Reviews
John Williams may be John Williams without E.T.
But E.T. could never be E.T. without John Williams. The superiority of this film evolves around the one thing that really brings out its quality; THE MUSIC!
John Williams composed and directed the purest and most powerful musical score ever done in a motion picture. The score really holds the film together and it sets the mood and pace of each scene so perfectly.
God bless the Oscars for honoring Mr. Williams with the award.
As for E.T. himself, he is truly the most beautiful and loveable alien I've ever seen. I'd sure to receive a hug from him myself.
As for Elliott, I'm not impressed with his character at all. At 10, he's a child who obviously doesn't care about anyone; even his own mother. In the scene at the table where he bluntly tells her his father has moved away with another woman and where she gets up and walks away in tears, he just shrugs his shoulders and ignores her. He doesn't give her a hug in comfort or even apologize.
And a child who only wants to give and receive love from an extraterrestrial alien?
If he were my child, I'd have him institutionalized.
But aside from that, E.T. is a movie treasure.
Steven Spielberg should of won the Oscar along with his friend John Williams, but at least he's won for others.
